Summary

When a participant completes a course through ACORN they will be issued with a digital certificate, each certificate contains a unique code which can be checked for authenticity HERE. 

A new certificate version is issued whenever there is a significant change to course content or completion criteria. The courses on ACORN are regularly updated, new certificate versions are NOT released for minor updates ; you can find the version number of a certificate through the link above and a summary of each version's requirements below.


Why verify a certificate

Anyone can verify an ACORN certificate if they have it's unique code. By verifying the certificate you can see:

  • The name of the person it was issued to
  • The course name and certificate version
  • The certificates expiry date and whether it is still valid


Certificate Versions

Bronze Training

V1 (Issued between 1/2/2021 - 13/4/2021)

The certificate holder has completed and passed the following DofE Adventurous Journey Training Requirements at BRONZE level:

    • Understanding the goals of the Adventurous Journey
    • Appreciating the culture within the Journey's environment
    • Understanding the impact of the Adventurous Journey on the environment
    • Competence in the mode of travel
    • Team building and leadership
    • Observation and recording skills 

V2 (13/4/2021 - 27/7/2021)

The certificate holder has completed and passed the following DofE Adventurous Journey Training Requirements at BRONZE level:

    • Understanding the goals of the Adventurous Journey
    • Appreciating the culture within the Journey's environment
    • Understanding the impact of the Adventurous Journey on the environment
    • Competence in the mode of travel
    • Team building and leadership
    • Observation and recording skills 
    • Navigation and route planning

V3 (28/7/2021 - 1/11/2021

The certificate holder has completed and passed the following DofE Adventurous Journey Training Requirements at BRONZE level:

    • Understanding the goals of the Adventurous Journey
    • Appreciating the culture within the Journey's environment
    • Understanding the impact of the Adventurous Journey on the environment
    • Competence in the mode of travel
    • Team building and leadership
    • Observation and recording skills 
    • Navigation and route planning
    • Campcraft, including food and cooking
    • Necessary equipment and how to use it

V4 (1/11/2021 - Current)

The certificate holder has completed ALL Bronze Training requirements as set out by the Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award and can go on their Bronze practice journey.

V4B (18/08/2023 - Current)

The certificate holder has completed ALL Bronze Training requirements as set out by the Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award and can go on their Bronze practice journey. This certificate was earned by participating in a Beta Test, so the participant may have had a different structure or style of content
